This weekend our nation pauses to remember the 15th anniversary of that awful September morning of 2001, when absolutely everything changed. I’m sure that each of us recalls exactly where we were when we heard the news of the airliners crashing into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and in a Pennsylvania field. I am particularly mindful of the passengers of United Flight 93 who, knowing they were going to die, attacked their attackers and brought down the jet that was likely to have crashed into the nation’s Capital Building or the White House. We also remember the revered Franciscan Friar, Fr. Mychal Judge, who rushed into the South Tower to minister to firefighters who were injured there. He died with them when the tower collapsed. More than 2,800 people lost their lives that fateful September 11th, and we honor their memory today at our 10:45 am Mass. Let us keep silent vigil today as we remember those people, and especially honor the nearly 300 First Responders who gave their lives in the line of duty. May the Lord give them repose in the garden of light.
Today, 9/11/16 is also the opening day of class for our PSR and Life Teen students. September 14th marks the opening day of Wednesday PSR classes and Edge (our middle school program).
Dear Parents, please enroll ALL of your children in the Faith Formation classes appropriate to their school grade level. We have so little time with them each week to pass on the Faith that it just doesn’t make any sense to enroll them only in the sacramental preparation classes. They need to be in FF classes EVERY YEAR. Give them every opportunity to catch the Faith! And, parents, enroll yourselves in our adult faith formation classes that are offered concurrent to each PSR session. You, too, should avail yourselves of every opportunity to catch and deepen your own spiritual and faith life.
May the Lord bless us on our Journeys, and make us ever thirsty to drink from the well of our Tradition.
