July 19, 2015 – Farewell Seminarians

July 19, 2015

Dear fellow Parishioners,

Our two seminarians, Mark White and Bradley Star, will be leaving us all too soon. Our Knights of Columbus are celebrating their presence with us, and their impending return to their theological studies, with a good old-fashioned, family-style BBQ this Saturday, July 18th after the 5:00 pm Mass. Everyone is most welcome to attend.

You can keep in touch with them at the following addresses:
Mr. Mark White
Notre Dame Seminary
2901 S Carrollton Ave
New Orleans, LA 70118

Mr. Bradley Star
Mount St. Mary’s Seminary
16300 Old Emmitsburg Rd
Emmetsburg, MD 21727

Mark will be entering his first year of theological studies in September. Bradley will begin his third year of theological studies, and, God willing, will be ordained a Transitional Deacon in the spring of 2016.

Both of our young men have included goodbye notes to you in this bulletin. I know that this parting will be especially hard for Brother Mark who has served us with distinction in nearly every aspect of SPX ministries for the past year. Brotherly Bradley has only had a few weeks with us, but he has also spoken to me of his growing affection for all of you.

From my own experience, I know that they would both greatly appreciate it if y’all slipped them a $20 bill as you tell them goodbye. While the Archdiocese pays all of their expenses for tuition, room and board, books, etc., the seminarians receive only about $150 a month for their incidental expenses. Our little bits of extra assistance go a long way to help with such expenses. If many of us slip them $20 when they are leaving us, it will be a far more tremendous gift than we might realize.

Your brother on the Journey,

Father Greg
