The season of Lent begins Wednesday, February 10 and will end on Easter Sunday, March 27. During this season we are called to a deeper commitment to prayer, fasting and self-denial (giving up something).
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declare that the rules for fasting and abstinence are:
Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Fridays in Lent
All persons 14 years of age and older are required to abstain from meat and items made from meat.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday
All persons 18 – 59 years old are required to fast. A person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal.
You can find the daily Scripture readings in each week’s bulletin as a guide to Bible study and prayer time during Lent.
